NXT Takeover Stand And Deliver takes place on April 7th & 8th and is going to lay down the gauntlet for the main brand with this absolutely stacked two day extravaganza.
Takevover events have always been something special and this card looks no different from the dissolution of the Undisputed Era leading into a thrilling unsanctioned match between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly to the NXT UK champion WALTER hoping to continue his reign of dominance over Tommaso Ciampa and so much more.
As always the card is subject to change.
NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT MATCH:
Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) vs. Legado Del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza) vs. MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee)
The Recently debuted MSK (formally Impacts The Rascalz) have made an impact in their short time in NXT and this is a perfect opportunity to face off against two distinct teams in the GYV and Legado Del Fantasma, The former will bring a hard hitting style to the bout and try to control the pacing of the match to suit them, against two face paced team this could prove to be too much for Drake and Gibson.
MSK will be pushed to the limit if they can get their first title reign in NXT and I can’t see past them taking the gold in an exciting and energetic bout.
MSK to win.
NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Io Shirai (c) vs. Raquel Gonzalez
Io Shirai has had a firm grip on the NXT Women’s division for nearly a year, her reign currently stands at 303 days and she has ran rough-shot across the division in some fantastic matches.
The build up to this one has been all out war culminating with Io getting put through a wall at NXT and the whole women’s roster having to try and separate the two from killing each other before they even got to the ring.
Gonzalez has rose through the ranks of NXT and has made her name for herself in some excellent matches on the brand and if anyone can de throne the Queen of NXT itll be Gonzalez.
This match deserves to close the first night of the event and if Io does lose the title a RAW/Smackdown call up will surely be on the cards, that being said I think she will beat Gonzalez and hold the NXT Women’s title for at least a year.
Io Shirai to retain.
NXT UK CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
WALTER (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Tommaso Ciampa has taken offence with Imperium and over the last few months has effectively taken out all its members, unbeknownst that their leader WALTER has been in the US to oversee the group, WALTER has held the NXT UK Championship for over 700 days!
While it would be awesome to see Tomasso Ciampa over in the UK injecting a much needed lease of life into the UK branch of NXT there is too many variables against Ciampa to see hi dethrone this monster of a champion.
Needless to say these two are going to fight stiff and this will be one to keep an eye on for people not overly familiar with WALTER’s in ring work.
WALTER to Retain.
NO. 1 CONTENDER’S SIX-MAN GAUNTLET ELIMINATOR MATCH:
Bronson Reed vs. Cameron Grimes vs. Dexter Lumis vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. LA Knight vs. Leon Ruff
The winner of this six man Gauntlet will go on to face Johnny Gargano on night two for the North American Title, the order of entry was determined in an over the top rope battle royale on go home show last week, with Dexter Lumis gaining that coveted final spot.
Leon Ruff has had one hell of a year with NXT and a rematch with Gargano would be great to see again but all eyes are facing toward the menacing Lumis; Grimes will undoubtedly try to bribe some of the other contenders on the build-up but the rich redneck will come up short here.
The newly debuted LA Knight has to be on the champions radar and this will boil down to him Vs Lumis to grab the title shot.
Dexter Lumis is an intimidating presence in this match and that will loom over the other participants and his recent history with Gargano and The Way will come to an end on night two as he takes the victory here.
Dexter Lumis to Win.
Kushida vs. Pete Dunne
Both these men were in the elimination battle royale but couldn’t set aside their differences and took each other out with the fight spilling over outside the ring, NXT GM William Regal set this match up and surely the winner of this will be in line for a future North American Championship match.
What will happen is this will be a technical masterpiece with Dunne bringing his patterned joint manipulation to the match and Kushida bringing some innovative submissions style wrestling, this will be an excellent showcase of both these talented superstars who deserve to be on the upper echelon of NXT and will be determined to prove this fact here.
Pete Dunne to win.
That wraps up night one of this history making two day event. Be sure to look out for the night two predictions and results over the next few days.
